Mud resist block printing:

The mud resist printing technique is a very old and authentic method from India.  It is a resist dyeing process applied to the finished textile, following the block print method. Block print is created by using a handmade wooden block to apply a mixture of mud and tree gum on fabric. The mud resists dye during the indigo dipping. Once the mud is removed after the dyeing, the printed area remains its original base colour.

Natural indigo dye:

The more the yarns are dipped in the natural indigo, the darker the blue colour will get. During the dyeing process, no chemicals are added. General wear, use and wash will fade the colour and each product will gain its unique appearance by time.

Indigo People’s concept is founded on the affection for traditional craftsmanship and the love of natural indigo.

Combining contemporary design with authentic techniques. Each product is hand woven and customized with integrity by a master artisan. The base materials are hand selected and dyed in indigo following a labor intensive process. Creating unique products for indigo lovers.

Indigo people works with different artisan communities, each with it’s own specialization in weaving technique such as ‘ikat’, ‘open weave’ and ‘4-grill’. This production method can result in little imperfections. The beauty of these imperfections give each product a unique appearance. The main material is based on unbleached and unprocessed cotton. The raw cotton is manually spun, which results in unevenness in the yarns. These little nubs in the weaving yarns give the product a natural and rugged look. When the scarfs are more worn, the cotton fibre will get more flexible and gain even more softness. In some products the cotton fibre is combined with silk to increase the wearer’s comfort and to give the product a subtle shine.

Indigo People was born out of love for traditional craftsmanship and the beauty of natural indigo. The brand is an homage to the artisans who keep up their heritage and to people with a great affection for authentic handicrafts. Combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design Indigo People creates a unique collection of scarfs for indigo lovers.

Please be aware that the blue may stain other textiles, leather or skin whilst it's worn. General wear, use and washing will fade the color and gain its unique appearance. This product is manually dyed in natural indigo. Every item is handcrafted and will vary in color or look. No chemicals have been added to fix the color, thus crocking may occur.
